DISTRICT VISION
District Vision was founded in December 2015 by Tom Daly from England and Max Vallot from Germany. The two met at university in London over fifteen years ago. After moving to New York, Tom and Max enjoyed their life to the fullest in the city, but a series of drastic events shook up their lives and led them to discover running and meditation.
District Vision researches and develops tools for mindful athletes, creating products that are equally function-oriented and performance-enhancing. Their philosophy is a holistic approach to sport and the belief that mental well-being is the foundation for any form of physical activity. The first experiment was launched by District Vision in 2013, when they began testing sports eyewear technology with a group of runners. Combining practical feedback with Japanese engineering, the sports sunglasses for runners were born. The first range of models called ‘Keiichi’ was created, handcrafted in Japan, these glasses are patented and are a perfect fit for athletes. As part of their holistic vision for the project, they want to offer the opportunity for runners and active people in New York to take part in meditations. They also offer a series of lectures along with Mindful Athlete Program (MAP), for which they collaborate with leading experts in both fields.
Currently, District Vision offers a total of six different models of eyewear. Additionally, there are accessories such as cases specially designed for “trail running” – outdoor runs in the countryside. The Nagata Speed Blade for runners, for example, is an ultra-light frame made of nylon and titanium. The D+ lens is hand-cut and polished in Japan for unparalleled vision in a wide range of conditions. This model also features adjustable hypoallergenic rubber nose pads and titanium-cored temple tips. District Vision is continuously innovating and improving to meet the sporting needs of athletes.
